Ocean Park is San Juan's largest municipal beach and, by most accounts, its most local: a wide, sandy stretch fronting the tree-lined Ocean Park and Parque residential streets rather than a hotel row. It runs almost two miles from Punta Piedrita in the west to Punta Las Marías in the east, with enough room that it rarely feels as packed as Condado or Isla Verde. Surfers and windsurfers use the eastern stretch when the wind and swell line up.

Morning, before the wind and surf pick up on the eastern stretch.
Swim safety
Generally swimmable along most of the stretch, with lifeguards present on the main section. Watch for current near the surf breaks further east.
Parking
Free lot and street parking near Barbosa Park on the east end; tighter toward the west end.
Shade
No real shade, bring an umbrella or rashguard.
